|RECORD RESULTS AS THAMESMEAD STUDENTS BUCK THE NATIONAL TREND|
Thursday morning was full of excited voices and screams of delight as students from Thamesmead School celebrated their record GCSE results. 84% of the year achieved five or more A*-C grades, and 73% achieved five A*-C including English and maths. These are record results for the school – 6% higher than the previous best of 66% including English and maths – and the celebrations reflected their joy.
Six students achieved the ‘clean sweep’, gaining A* and A grades in every one of their exams. These are: Shana Brown, Katya Essina, Megan Hedges, Alice Meredith, Emma Roshier and Rebecca Venn.
Peter Rodin, Headteacher, said “We are delighted with the results achieved by our students; they reflect the huge amount of effort they put into their studies and the support they received from their parents and teachers. These qualifications can never be taken away from them and enable our students to have choices about their future careers and education. I know they will go on to great things and Thamesmead wishes them all the best.
I would like to thank their parents and families for working with us to achieve these results – they can only happen when schools and families work in partnership for the best interests of the students. I would also like to thank all the staff of Thamesmead School who have encouraged, continually motivated and tirelessly supported each individual student in our care. This support ensures our students continue to perform to the highest possible standards and we look forward to repeating this success with future students.”
