Uniform

School uniform should be worn smartly and appropriately, both in school and on the way to and from school.

Shirt                Plain white with a top collar button, which must be done up, worn tucked in
at all times

 

Tie                   The appropriate clip-on House tie must be worn for school.                                                                                     

 

Trousers          Full length, black, Terylene/tailored type with no decoration. Cords, jean styles
and tightly-fitted trousers and decorative belts are not permitted.

 

Skirts               Plain, black skirt, no shorter than 5cm above the knee length and no longer
than mid-calf with no splits, frills buckles or stretch fabrics.

 

Jumper            Optional black v-neck school jumper, with school badge, purchased from approved      
supplier may be worn as an additional item
in cold weather. It is not an                      

                        alternative to the blazer.                                                                                      

                                                                                                                                                         

Blazers            School blazer, with school badge, purchased from approved supplier.                           

 

Footwear        Safe, black practical shoes - no heavy boots. Trainers / canvas footwear are not
to be worn in the school buildings, except for P.E. and Drama.

Outdoor Coat  Coats must be plain outdoor garments and should not be casual tops. Coats                           
are not to be worn in class. Leather or denim jackets are not permitted
neither 
are hooded sweatshirts or fleeces. In the interests of
road safety there are good
reasons for wearing light, reflective clothing on the way to and from school.

 

Hair                 Although the school recognises a student’s right to express individuality
through hairstyle, highly exaggerated styles or vibrant colours are not
permitted. Long hair should be styled off the face in all lessons.

 

Bicycles           Students riding bicycles to school should conform to safety regulations, which
recommended the wearing of light-reflecting items and safety helmets.
Student motor scooters are not permited on site.

 

Equipment       Day Book, pens, pencils, ruler, and a suitable bag, i.e.big enough to enclose an

                        A4 hardback folder. USB memory stick is also recommended for transferring

                        home/school work.

 

Jewellery        Only a moderate amount of simple jewellery may be worn - one plain ring per

  and                hand and one stud or sleeper per ear. No other body piercing is permitted.

Valuables        Jewellery must be removed for P.E. and practical lessons. Failure to conform

                        will mean confiscation of jewellery and parents will be invited into school to

                        collect it. Mobile phones, iPods, MP3 players, etc. must be turned off throughout

                        the whole day. If a student is found using any of these items in school they will

                        be confiscated and retained in the main office for collection by parents/guardians

                        between 2-4pm on Fridays only. The school does not accept responsibility for

                        any items of this kind.

 

Aprons             Students should wear an apron for practical subjects to protect their clothing.

 

Make-up          Only the discreet use of make-up will be permitted in school. Nail polish/false

                        nails are not permitted.

It must be clearly understood that there can be no departure from this uniform. Whilst we cannot cover every eventuality in the brief description, we would trust that both parents and students will uphold the spirit of our uniform policy. The Governing consults with parents and students regarding changes to this uniform policy and it may be that alterations to the uniform are brought about following consultation.
