Year 10 Careers Fair – coming in the Summer Term

Advance warning to ‘save the date’ for a virtual Careers and Apprenticeship Show after school on Thursday May 20th. More details will be released early next term and the link for registering will be sent to all students via e-mail. They will be told via their tutors when this is sent out.

Briefly: the CAS helps to achieve Gatsby BM’s 2,5 & 7 and has lots of activities and workshops and talks for young people to get involved with.

Year 10 students have had a virtual assembly explaining Post 16 options. For further information and books on careers, apprenticeships or universities, these are available in the Learning Resource Centre in school in the Careers section.

Woking College Summer Open Event – admission Sept 2021

By this point in Year 10 many of you would normally have visited Woking College for Open or Taster Events.  Please see the link below to short (about 15 minutes) taster lessons for all 51 of their subject choices.

These are found on their website

Please make the most of this opportunity to explore different subjects.

Work Experience and College Taster Days

We want to encourage as many opportunities as possible for our students to visit colleges and to have work experience, however these need to be after school hours or during school holidays. All colleges usually have an Open Evening which does not clash with the school day so please select to go to those. Most work experience is flexible so please select to go in the school holidays. In exceptional circumstance Mr Reeves will give authorised absences for students who have good attendance and always catch up on work missed. We do not want to disadvantage our student’s education and we do offer several Year 10 Taster Days in school time.

Thamesmead Careers Opportunities

Thamesmead students take part in many Careers Events including the Enterprise Challenge, CSI days, University visits, STEM challenges and Taster Days at local colleges.
