What will I study as part of GCSE Maths?
The mathematics curriculum is designed to ensure students use and apply maths to practical tasks, real-life situations and within the context of the course itself.
Numeracy skills are linked to the personal finance and money management areas of Personal and Social Education. Concepts of taxation and consumer rights support the study of Citizenship.
What is the exam format?
Students follow a modular course, which comprises of three external examinations (calculator and non-calculator papers) throughout Years 9, 10 and 11.

What careers might this lead to?
Students interested in maths may enjoy careers in banking and finance, accountancy, statistics, economics, science, mechanical engineering, architecture, software engineering and research. There are also many opportunities in teaching. Further studies in A’ level subjects such as Maths Mechanics, Maths Statistics and A’ level Further Maths, Accounting and Economics are available in local colleges.
