Enrichment

We know that to prepare our students for their adult lives we need to help them develop individual skills and interests. We encourage participation in a daily range of Thamesmead Plus activities, to extend learning and develop these skills.

Activities vary each term and include options such as Nature, Drama, Anime, Music Production, Journalism, Debating, Journalism, Orchestra, Jazz, Soul Band, Carpentry, Book Club, Self Defence, Art, Hockey, Yoga, Girls & Boys Football, Basketball, Rugby, Rounders, Netball and Foreign Film Club.

KS3 and KS4 Study Room facilities are available in the Learning Centre and in our ICT suite daily. Student Support also offers extra help for SEND students after school.

The current after school programme can be found here

When circumstances allow we run many UK and overseas field trips along with visits to exhibitions, workshops and theatres; experiences that further enrich our students’ learning. Many take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme in the UK and the World Challenge programme offers global opportunities.  In July 2015 two groups of students travelled to Malaysia to volunteer at a school and take part in trekking activities. In 2017 students explored Sri Lanka and Tanzania.

Over recent years we have taken trips to Amsterdam, the French & Belgian Battlefields, Poland, Lake Garda, Barcelona, New York and a Ski Trip group to Italy.

Visiting groups run workshops, drama presentations, business challenges and road safety awareness. In addition, Enterprise Days and Skills Fairs develop employability skills such as independent thinking and problem solving. We welcome the involvement of these groups adding to the experience of our students.
