School Meals, Menus & FSM

“Students that eat a healthy, well balanced diet are better able to concentrate within class and are more likely to be receptive to learning.”

The school canteen is run by Innovate Services Ltd. Innovate offer a varied menu of good nutritious food that students enjoy in keeping with our Healthy Schools status. The menu rotates every six weeks and provides good value. Snacks, drinks and main meals are available every day. The canteen is open during morning break and lunch break. There is a POD for service in the quad and one on the rear playground.

Allergies and Dietary requirements

Thamesmead is a nut-free school and the canteen can also accommodate allergy and dietary requirements. Labelling of products is in line with Natasha’s Law – more details are in the flyer below.

Payments for School Meals/Cashless Catering

Parents can top up their child’s canteen account using the online Tucasi system. Students new to Thamesmead are given a link code to use the Tucasi system when they join Thamesmead.  Parents will be asked to given consent for their child’s biometric details to be used with the fingerprint payment system in the canteen. (This is totally secure and more details about the way our data is stored is available on request). Students’ parents who prefer not to give consent for this, can still give their name at the tills instead of paying by fingerprint.

Online payments by credit or debit card for Innovate Services are processed by Cunninghams, and so your bank statement would display ‘Cunninghams’ for payments made for the canteen via Tucasi.

Free School Meals

From September 2026 all children in households receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for free school meals, regardless of income. This means many more families will be able to access free school meals.
If you receive Universal Credit free school meals are not automatically given. You must still apply through the school. If you think your child may be eligible, we strongly encourage you to apply by filling out the form at the link.  We will then check your eligibilty with Surrey and advise you of the outcome

If eligible a daily credit of £2.75 is added to a student’s canteen account. Any daily allowance is always used before any additional funds that parents may choose to add to their child’s account.
